Lawrence Ragoo! (part 3)

after a nice night sleep at the weld lab, we woke up at 6 and jumped in the veggie mobile and headed for the mountains.

our plan was to park on the south side of the mountain and end on the north side. we would hit 10 mountains total and it was around 25 miles. with none of us having any experience with long hikes, we were pretty much just running on a "fuck it, lets see what happens" mentality. after hitch hiking as far as we did, hiking these mountains seemed like the easy part.  we grabbed a trail map, snapped a picture before we went in the woods, and started hiking.
point A to point B

the first few miles were horrible. we were all sweating and breathing heavy and thinking "i cant believe we have another 20 something miles of this". as soon as we got above the tree line, we were at our first peak. Mt. Webster. a miniature compared to what we had ahead, but still a nice accomplishment to get out of the trees and soak up the nice view of what was ahead of us. absolute perfect conditions. visibility for miles and a perfect temperature.

this was our first view of mt washington. this would be our half way marker. it looks far

we made sure to soak up the view for a few minutes from each peak. even though mt webster was tiny, the view was still crazy. craig brought a beer so he could drink it on the first peak.

we hit the trail and headed for mt Jackson. about the same size as Mt Webster but it gave us a better view of the eastern side of the mountain range.

craig had a pump/water filter that you could literally drop in a mud puddle and pump out clean water. we stopped a bunch of times along the trip to fill our water bottles.
