My friend Vic sent me an email today with the subject "Trailsrule". Before I opened it I was thinking about the last few days I spent at the trails down here in Austin. The new landing at the bottom of the hill got finished. Dudes were getti

Travels with charley
My friend Jackson's favorite book is "Travels with Charley". It's about John Steinbecks journey around the United states with his poodle. He gave me a copy of it when I was visiting him in California, and I started reading it on the sailing trip. I got half way done with it and ended up forgetting it on the boat. A few weeks ago I ran into Dylan and he gave it back to me.

Puerto Rico Rulez
Puerto Rico is always a good time. That's why it always seems like a short time. I'm always planning my return before I've left. This trip was no exception. Big thank you to FBM and Tioga for making it possible. I got to share some awesome experiences with some awesome people. It's crazy where a bike can take you.
And here's a picture of Midget, at her most vulnerable position. Mid Dump.
The video came out from the trip. real stoked on it. Puerto Rico baby

Loosing My Mind in Puerto Rico (two)
Loosing my mind. I feel like I'm walking around without a head. Theres always soo much going on, to take in, that I can't focus on anything. Cars honking, beautiful women, the smell of good food, yelling, the ocean, wild dogs, and Un Phillie, are just a few of the things that are constantly in front of your face to take your mind off anything you were trying to think about.
Which is fine by me. Bring on the overwhelming amount of interesting stuff to sink my senses around. I shut my brain off from my normal thought for a few weeks....

Loosing My Mind in Puerto Rico (one)
I just got home from a 3 week trip, ending the last 10 days in Puerto Rico. I wen't down there to film a video for Tioga, with my friends Steve and Eric. It's crazy down there.
We Flew out of Richmond. We had to be at the airport at 4 in the morning, so i decided not to go to sleep. I planned on sleeping on the plane but it never really happened. I just Zombie walked through flights and layovers all day.
Evan has been living down there in the jungle for a while now. He came to pick us up at the airport, they lost our bags, we went to the beach.
We slept like bears.

Virginia Beach.
I have been wanting to go to Virginia Beach for a while.
My mom is from that area, and beach towns always interest me. I love visiting them, and they all seem to be exactly the same. I usually try to avoid them during the busy season, But love how erie they always look during the off season. Closed bars and night clubs everywhere. And there's always a bunch of the same gift shop, throughout the strip. And they are all open with no body anywhere in site. I wanted to try and find a shark in a jar..

Richmond Randoms
I read the book "Siddhartha", in the last few weeks. It reminded me of the sailing trip. It seems like everything, in some way or another, reminds me of the sailing trip.
Steve has a bad ass FBM single speed. I lowered the seat and pedaled it over to hollywood cemetery. The thing will wheelie forever. It might actually be the best wheelie bike I have ever rode. I basically wheelied the thing all the way there. It was a blast. They have some benches on top of the hill that overlook the James river. It's pretty quiet up there and it was a good place to finish that book.

Traveling: Back To Richmond.
Woke up on Sunday morning and went out for breakfast with all the florida buds. It had been a few years since I saw them before this, so it was nice to share a farewell over the best meal of the day. Then We drove the bus to a place called rock springs, to get a serious soak after a crazy fest. I didn't take any pictures while we were there, but it was beautiful and worth seeing, so i stole a picture off the internet.
And then we drove all through the day and night, stopping at a bunch of weird gas stations and checking out all the strange stuff they have. Dan, I found your knife...

Banned in the Backyard!
When I heard about the Banned Jam in Florida, There was no doubt in my mind if I was going to go or not. I knew that it was going to be a good time with a bunch of awesome dudes. And A chance to see some friends that I haven't seen in a while. So when Crandall mentioned driving the Bus down from Richmond, The ticket was booked and the plan was set.
It almost always seems to work out, that you show up to your trip destination in the dark. And when you wake up, you get stoked to enjoy it.

Traveling: Kona Skatepark to Apopka,FL
Everyone has fun at Kona. Everyone.
We got there late and set up the tents. Van brought a bunch of stuff to make s'mores, and we had a celebration. peanut butter is good in a S'more. Woke up and tamed some curls.
The first thing I did was skate the vert ramp. I just picture Some bad asses in the 70's ripping that thing.
After the Vert ramp, I did a bunch of Bombs down the snake run. Took another video going down it on the board. Always such a good time.
And then I spent the rest of the day riding bikes around at the oldest skatepark in the U.S. with a bunch of my friends.
Made the drive to Apopka. Spent the night hanging out by a camp fire and hanging out in a tree fort. slept in a hammock up in the tree fort. holladay set his tent up, up there.

Traveling: A day in Savannah
I love Savannah. Awesome people, beautiful architecture, tons of kooks, good pizza. Every time we go there we have a good time.
We woke up in tent city, but mostly known as Cent Titties. Van, Kitt, Holladay, and I have tents to set up every night, instead of trying to cram 8 people sleeping in the bus. Always nice to wake up to the trees all covered in Spanish Moss. Everything in Savannah looks so different to where I grew up. Which is one of my favorite things about traveling to different places. It keeps me looking further than directly in front of me.

Traveling: Richmond to Savannah
The Bus reminds me of the bus from "The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test". Steve Crandall and his band of Merry Pranksters. A little more dark looking, but with the same premise. Drive around the country building friendships with people from all walks of life. We crammed 8 of us into the bus and hit the road.

Traveling: A day in Richmond.
Did the normal Richmond morning routine. Pedaled over to the coffee shop and got a little brew and food with some folks. There was a bad ass dog there named "Dogter Dre". Hung out with him for a little bit.
Then we drove across town to our friend Pat's backyard masterpiece. Drove past a bunch of homeless people sleeping in the park that all the homeless people hang out and do drugs in. They looked surprisingly comfortable on that concrete path.. they could have been dead.
Pat's Paradise.
Then we headed over to the Gentlemans club to catch some blue grooves. Cresson was killing it harder than everyone. It's nice to see a guy in his late 40's just living to enjoy himself. My friend Evan had told me a story about Cresson a while back.. I guess he came into re-cycles looking for a wheel. After he left the shop, Evan was cruising across town on his motorcycle and saw Cresson pedaling full speed at this curb cut. He said he was nervous about how fast he was going at it, and then he just pulled up a manual and bump jumped it full speed. Said it got him real stoked. Guy is a total APE.
Matt juggling brains.
Then the sun went down and the un-aware wolves came out.. Fear of the Dark.
In the morning we start cruising south....

Traveling: San Antonio to Richmond
The guy's I met through couchsurfing were awesome. I had plans to stay with some other couch surfers, but the plans fell through and I was in San Antonio late with no place to go. I posted something on the website and in a short time, Matt called me to ask if I wanted to stay at his house. I pedaled over there and met up with him,his 2 room mates, and another couch surfer that was passing through. They had an awesome DVD collection.

Traveling: Austin To San Antonio.
I sat in the bus the night before I set out on my trip, for hours. Strummin' and thinking about the experience I was about to get involved with. Dozens of adventures that would slowly turn into one 3 week long trip. The more interesting, the better. If i'm not learning something from everything, I feel like i'm missing the point. I wanna leave as an empty chalkboard, and come home filled up. Everything that happened will, in some way make me, me.

Adios Austin, Hola Richmond
I head out tonight, on a flight to Richmond,VA. Heading there to jump in a bus with a bunch of my friends, and drive south on a road trip to madness. After we go insane, we are driving back to Richmond and flying to Puerto Rico, eventually making my way back to Austin a few weeks later. The best plan on the road is no plan. So I'm looking forward to taking the seconds as they click.
The last 2 pics I have saved from my time so far in Austin. A morning spent with friends, shooting BB gun's and drinking some coffee.
A vacation from vacation....
