Sailing Journal Day 9 (March 28th)

Newport morning. Hung out for a few hours checking out the sites. got to see a huge ship being built. when its finished, the owner is sailing it around the world.

We headed out and hoisted the sewn sail. the waves were big but we kept motoring. After a few hours it started pouring rain.. the waves just kept growing and we found ourselves in a similar situation as in New London. 8 foot waves, pouring rain, blowing wind, in the middle of the ocean.

I managed to get this video of after the storm. i think the seas in the background and the look on Evans face, sums up the situation that we were just in, pretty well.

This time i was at the helm while dylan and Evan tried to drop the sails. The rolling waves were huge. I was looking up at them out of the boat. I'm stoked we lived. We kept motoring and the weather finally cleared up. We made it to the mouth of the cape cod canal and threw out the anchor in a cove.

Cabin Life. Evan told us that he's thinking about getting off the boat tomorrow. It's upsetting and i hope he changes his mind. Today seemed like it stressed us out. Scary to be in the middle of the ocean on a tiny boat surrounded by big waves. I think this trip will change my life.
