PROS and CONS

I dont understand what a professional bmx rider is. You have your obvious Professional bmx riders like Brian Foster, Chris Doyle, Mike Aitken, and others alike. But what about all that weird gray area? For example, Clint Reynolds. He doesn't get paid to ride his bike, but no one would hesitate when calling him a "pro" bike rider.

And lets not forget about that local hero that tells everyone that he is a "pro", and kids eat it up like candy corn on halloween. they are all the same, chances are, they teach kids how to do tailwhips at their local park and probably get a boner signing their names on little kids helmets. back in the day shrewsbury had keith goguen southbridge still has airin rosso and now taunton has joe nelson. that mentallity is the worst thing for bmx. kids come in the shop and all they talk about is being pro and being sponsored and how awesome their local self proclaimed pro nelson is. and it doesent even have anything to do with them calling themselves "professionals" because i could care less if joe shmo wants to call himself a pro bike rider. its that hes teaching kids that riding bmx is about training and practicing so you get helmet sponsors and attention and not about having fun on your bike and not worrying about learning tailwhips and barspins.

i asked jake honesto about it and he actually figured it out. he said " its a math equation and i have mastered it.. tailwhips X children = better bmx. the more kids that learn how to do tailwhips..the better bmx will be" he might have a point...

start training and someday you will be a "pro".

Or stop worrying about it and someday you will have fun riding your bike.

lets weigh out the pros and cons...

  2. This article proves how awful some of BMX is. You have your riders who love every aspect of bmx and every rider involved, then you have the faggots that like to talk shit on other riders because they think they're better than everyone else. Lose the shitty attitude and don't judge people before you get to know them

  8. yo, aug 14,2011 11:06 AM Henny is doing more shit than you, chillin hard and living life. You only argue because you actually probably can't ride without getting pissed that you didn't land that super sick stunt. We go hard on the gazzelle. This blog is becoming too much fun. When you sell kids bikes today Eric make sure you give them the print out of how to do tailwhips and barspins before learning manuals

  10. You should stop and listen to what your actually saying because you sound ridiculous. This sport is dynamic and has gained a lot more popularity over the last few years so what's wrong with kids dreaming and being excited about the local talent ...shouldn't we inspire kids and promote the sport ?Is that privilege reserved only for paid Pros , I would hope not because all Pros started out as home grown local talent where the local kids looked up to them and that's how it should be. So when I see kids paying money to get mentored and trained in a BMX camp that's good for the sport and the professional way it should be done.As BMX grows in popularity more sponsors and bigger purses start to come forward we all need to inspire and help others in the sport whether it's free tips at the park a paid lesson or camp.

Also Clint Reynolds is not the only one who is not a paid "Pro' but an EXCEPTIONALLY TALENTED ....there must be hundreds who haven't got that yet but perhaps deserve it.What about all the riders sponsored on teams locally in there area ; ride in contests and get all kinds off stuff for free...isn't that like a local Pro I have seen both Clint and Joe Nelson ride and Joe is definitely right up there talent wise. Plus personally Joe is one of the nicest , friendliest, and humble talented BMX riders I have ever met.He is definitely good for the sport and you should be open to that ...oh and by the way Joe is all about having fun in BMX ...so maybe you should check your sources It sounds like you don't want anyone else to be good at the sport

  11. from one gazelle to another back with support and ready for action.

joe is a sketchy mother fucker who can't ride a bike without making it look like hes got a weiner in his butt, clint should not be in the same category or country.(hes azn). I lost my train of thought. OhGary you suck cock don't defend stupid people who like stupid things that talk to stupid people named gary.gary. seriously gar-bear you are as queer as a trainwreck. you should sell your bike for lube money because it seems like all the chafing is really affecting your mood. dry anal is no good for anyones disposition and yours seems to be suffering in quite an obvious way. now back to joe nelson aka full nelson (because he wrestles kids to the ground and rapes them in that position) he seriuously needs to step back and take a look at himself. he dresses like an asshole and has a gypsy fashion beard. and who straghtens their hair anymore besides him? THE SCENE IS DEAD JOE TAKE OFF YOUR SUNGLASSES AND SEE THE TRUTH!

  12. eric honestly i agree with you up to a point i agree with you that the age of upcoming bmx maybe alot more obssesed with sponsorships and getting money that having fun. but you can make this assumption that they are all concieded assholes who are only out there for money just because they do "trendy" tricks like barspins and tailwhips, and calling joe out is completely uncalled for what is the problem with helping kids who want to get into bmx that may not have anything really to ride taki it from me someone who lives in a town with no skate park and little to ride and i also feel in a way your being a hypocrite because you are basicly segragating these new riders that do diffrent tricks like im sure theres alot of people who can tail whip and barspin who are in it just for the money and are riding for fun and when you are focusing so much hate on these people who do these tricks your not really into the spirit of bmx either your focused on what other people are doing and basicly your im plying that how they are riding is wrong and they should be riding a diffrent way like does anyone ever tell you to change your style like seriosuly hennessy fuck off
