mount washington part one

boot spur trail up...tuckermans ravine trail down.

spent last weekend hiking up mount washington with some friends..the mountain is the highest peak in the northeast part of the united states..its 6,288 feet to the summit, and the trails to the top vary from easy hard to very hard.
I remember driving up it in a car with my family when i was like 10 but i havent been back since..when the idea got tossed out to head up i was really excited about it. Its in the white mountains and the scenery up there is gorgeous..we couldnt have asked for better weather, the visibility at the top was for miles and im sure that happens alot less than a visibility of 20 feet..

we went up on a saturday morning..packed up our back packs and we were all siked to get on the trail and find a campsite

the hike in brought us to a beautiful waterfall/river after about 200 yards..we took some early pics and set out to find a campsite before nightfall.

we hiked up about a quarter mile and just walked into the woods randomly and set up camp. as long as your 200 feet off the trail and away from a stream its a go. bring out what you bring in and leave no trace.  once we found the spot we cooked some chicks and dumps and set up our sleeping area..i some how talked 3 people that are scared to death of nature into sleeping outside in the middle of the woods with no tent. i tried to extend my hammock clip with a bandana but i ended up just smashing down on every below me after laying in it for 10 minutes.

with full stomachs billy and i went to find a little BOULDERING to do before it was dark. we found some good rocks to climb and then we found "the bucket"... "the bucket" was a 5 gallon bucket that was in the middle of the woods that looked like a big animal had been chewing on it to get whatever was inside of it.. the picture really does it no justice..it spooked me

billy took care of everyone all night by keeping the fire roasting through the night..what a nice friend

we woke up to a moose about 20 feet from us just strolling by. and no bears so i was siked

the next morning got all our legs burning like crazy after only 50 feet. no one mentioned it until the ride home.  after we started warming up and the blood started flowing it got pretty awesome..right off the bat the trail had a kick ass stairway in it

once we got  to the first outlook billy looked around to see what we were up against

theres too much stuff to post at once so part 2 tomorrow
