Live music
Went to a show the other night. I never had any intentions of going inside to watch the band. Instead, I picked a spot on the curb outside, and wrote my friend a letter. A guy walked by and asked if I was going into the show. I replied with " No, I'm enjoying the show from the sidewalk". He handed me 2 tickets and walked away. A great night spent with friends.

Bike rides
Went for a bike ride on the Blackstone River Bike Path with my friend Amanda. The sun was shining and the logs were full of turtles. I think I have turtle blood, because all i want to do is soak up sun rays while relaxing on a log. A good way to spend a sunny afternoon, riding bikes with a friend I haven't seen in too many months.

Hitchin'
I can't think of a better way to meet total strangers. I like meeting all types of people. Actually, I think i prefer to meet people that I have nothing in common with over people that are into the same things as I am. There is something to be learned from everyone.

A roof with a view
One of the first place's I went when I got back to Providence, was my friend Jake's roof. There is something about hanging out on a roof top in a city that I cant get enough of. Especially when the sun's out and the clouds are rolling by.

Bike rides with friends
Going for bike rides with my friends, is one of my favorite past times. I don't care where we go, as long as i can ride with no hands on the bars, fly down some hills, or pop a few wheelies. Unfortunately, laziness and the constant rush that people seem to always be in, have removed too many from the freedom and relaxation of cruising on 2 wheels.

The Trails
Since I left Providence in the beginning of January, I have been thinking about the trails. The simplicity of being in the woods with friends, the pride you get from building what you want to ride, the meditation of time spent at the trails alone. Those are a few of the reasons why I needed to spend my first few days back home, in a tent in the woods.
And although the trails are drier than a cats ass, I don't need to be able to ride them, to find enjoyment in being out there. The reason why i spend my time digging dirt in the woods, is not so i have jumps to ride. I can ride jumps anywhere. There is more to it than that.

Hitchhiking
The first time I Hitch hiked was in the middle of texas. I got picked up by an eighteen wheeler and the woman in the passenger seat had blood running down her leg that she was wiping up with a dirty teddy bear. Another time, we got in a bad car accident.
Tattooed faces, Teenage girls, Grandfathers, Business men..... You never know what you're gonna get.
I got picked up twice on my way home from Maine. The first person was a guy named Don. He hitch hiked to Woodstock in 69'. And told me stories about his sailing trips to Florida. The second one was an older woman. She was on her way home from spending time in Northern Maine to witness the birth of her new Nephew. She was married, with 2 kids. She drove me 40 minutes out of her way to get me on a Bus.
It's good to be back in Providence.

Sailing Journal Day 15 (April 3rd)
The motor wouldn't start this morning. Too cold. I suppose its better that way. We raised sails and made a break for Islesboro. It took us hours to go the last mile. The wind was coming straight at us so we had to tack back and forth forever. We made it. We sailed a boat to the Island of Islesboro.

Sailing Journal Day 14 (April 2nd)
Got a late start today. We didn't get on the boat until after noon. Dylans sister gave us a ride to the boat and we rowed out and got cruising. The boat is starting to take on a lot of water. Sailing to Maine in a sinking ship.

Sailing Journal Day 10 (March 29th)
Woke up in a nice cove of water. right at the entrance to the Cape Cod Canal. We motored through the canal and came to a little situation on the other end. As we were exiting the canal, we got a good view of a tug boat pulling a barge. they were rocking back and forth and blowing all over the place. The seas were gnarly. We turned around with our tails tucked between our legs and pulled into a marina in Sandwich, MA.

Sailing Journal Day 8 (March 27th)
Slept terribly. Seems to be the same for Evan and Dylan. that stuff yesterday left me all shook up. The wind was howling all night/morning. We needed to keep waiting for the wind to die down. so we got motivated and evan kept sewing the sail while i played him songs on the ukulele.
We stayed anchored until after noon to let the winds die down. made some breakfast and hung out our stuff to dry in the wind.

Sailing Journal Day 7 (March 26th)
Today was the craziest day of my entire life. We woke up in a nice calm cove and we started sailing towards New London, CT. The wind started blowing pretty hard so we decided to drop the Jib sail we had up and put on a smaller one to catch a little less wind.
Sailing Journal Day 6 (March 25th)
Woke up in North Port. Dylan made us some incredible turkey sandwiches. got the day started right. We sailed out of the harbor and started tacking again. The wind was slower than yesterday, but we still sailed all day.
When the sun went down, the wind stopped and the seas turned calm. We dropped the sails and kicked on the engine. Calm,Cold,Relaxing night, motoring along the connecticut coast. There were luminescence in the water . they react when they get stirred up and glow fluorescent green. It was beautiful and we motored until 1:00AM before choosing a safe place to throw out the anchor for the night. I am really enjoying this sailing trip. It's like nothing i have ever done.
